Upon ALT+Tabbing back into Discord to check that DM, I saw that he pulled me into a private room to have this discussion below (I am the person censored in black): The person censored in white then told me that the person who answered me was not a "he" after I made the mistake of calling "her" a "he" while telling that person that it was no problem because I did not know anything about them, but I did not know what he was talking about at the time, so I told him as much and didn't respond further.Īfter he broached me yet again about everyone's genders, I told him that I would try to be on my toes about keeping myself up-to-date with everyone's genders, but due to being in online environments for years that consist of people who call every unknown person a "he" as a gender-neutral term, I may forget to do so or fall back into old habits since I've also never met someone nor been in an environment where people would be offended by being called a "he" by someone who does not know anything about them-all of which I explained as best as I could via text.Īfter leaving that last message, I ALT+Tabbed back into what I was playing for a moment until I received a notification from a friend.
